Many feel an enduring powerlessness, being only able to spectate which way the world moves as your screen shows the extent of institutional policy by those who supposedly represent you.
A collection of combined words and images putting you in a familiar role where you can only watch and theorise. Let’s ask the question; what comes after?
But it feels like a Kiss (2024 - )
A continuation of the collaborative artistic research on perception of (institutionalised) violence together with Maartje Terpstra.
But it feels like a Kiss investigates different levels of structural violence within Western-capitalist society in relation to the experience of trauma and self-sacrifice.
The installation at Daddyfest is the first iteration of three. The first phase is all about the interrelation of theory and practice. It's a steel structure carrying both visual and textual entrances to the research. The work aims to formally substantiate the philosophical deconstruction by the artists. Through the critical use of framing and fragmentation within the installation, both artists highlight their own presence amongst the featured phenomena. In the next iteration the modular steel construction will be expanded and more audiovisual material is added to experiment with forms of involvement of the visitor. In the last iteration the installation hosts a performative work to increase the tension on the nodal points of human interaction as well as the friction of disciplines.
