During Usva’s 2023 Triggerwarning Festival in Groningen the artistic research collab with Reynaert Vosveld and Maartje Terpstra set off. Combining their creative and critical practices, harnessing their personal and political disturbance, they dedicated themselves to the study of systemic violence.
Oh, how I wanna Kick it... explored (in)visible and institutionalized violence in relation to the experience of Self in the act of self-defense. The intense video and performance installation facilitated a reactivation of discomfort. The durational intensity and live editing of explicit footage was demanding, allowing the artists and recipients to reconnect to their responses to cruelty.
